5 out of 5 stars An outstanding Value   January 8, 2010

Ok, I'm 49 years old male and my three children got bikes for Christmas. Since I no longer had a bike, I had to go out and purchase on. I wanted a large size, 25 inch or 63.5 cm Hybrid. I looked at the Trek 7200, 7200 FX and a Gray Fisher model. The Trek's cost about 529 dollars and the Fisher about 429. Then I found this jem on the internet in my size. To my surprise, [...] had this bike on sale. Other sites had it for 349 dollars but I was able to purchase mine at much less. The bike was about 95% complete out of the box. It took me about 20 minutes to put the rest together. The bike arrived in 2 days after I ordered it. The customer service from [...] is outstading. I called the 800 number listed on the manual when I was putting the bike together to ask a question about the quick release connections. My called was answered in 1 minute. Now here is the question for those who want to consider this bike. First, take a look at the above models or any model you want to consider in this price range. You may find that many of the models have the same componants this bike does. You are paying for the name. My Lamborghini looks outstanding, rides great and was a wonderful deal. If you want to buy one, I would purchase it from [...]. Their price is the lowest on the internet and their service is outstanding. I am so glad I did not buy the other bikes. Trek and Fisher are good brands but I like to same my money whenever I can. Good look and ride saftly. Sean, Duluth GA

4 out of 5 stars Successor to the Leggenda   November 16, 2009

First a qualifier: I own the predecessor to the Urbano model - the Leggenda. On other web sites, Lamborghini calls the Urbano model the successor to the Leggenda and from all appearances, they are very similar. I therefore thought my comments would be helpful.
My wife got me the Leggenda for Christmas (2008), but I have only recently had a chance to ride it enough to write an intelligent review. The bike looks great. it required a modest amount of assembly - after I figured out that the first set of instructions I found in the box were for a completely different bike. The single sheet I finally noticed that did pertain to my bike was adequate for doing the job.
My first experiences riding the bike were quite frustrating: in the first three rides on the bike, I had three flat tires! Since I'd been procrastinating about getting back in shape anyway, this was enough to keep me from really getting serious about using the bike for months. The solution was to buy some inexpensive wheel linings that prevent sharp edges inside the wheels from puncturing the inner tubes. (I ran accross this solution on a web site written by Schwinn owner who was having the same problem.) I've not yet taken any kind of serious spill, so I can't comment as to the strength of the fork or frame when its "under duress".
Now that I'm riding the bike, it has been a mostly positive experience. The shifting is easy, though it tends to slip between the sprockets for the two most difficult gears in back - it doesn't reliably stay on the smallest (most difficult) sprocket. I live in a fairly flat town, so having 21 gears is definitely overkill for me. The bike weighs in at about 31 pounds, which isn't all that light. (I'm not complaining - realistically, the most overweight component on this bike is the rider, who could stand to lose 20 - 30 pounds!) The ride is easy and smooth - I am matching speeds I used to get 15 years ago when I cycled to work every day and I'm only modestly pushing myself. Overall, I am quite satisfied and mystified as to why anyone other than a seriously competitive cyclist would pay as much as 10 times more for a bike that may be better, but hardly worth shelling out thousands of dollars for. If you are a weekend warrior or a even regular commuter who isn't otherwise completely engrossed in cycling, I'd recommend that you consider this bike seriously.

4 out of 5 stars Good Bike (for the price) But you'll need to get it tuned.   April 15, 2010

I bought two of these bikes for a non-profit organization that had only $400 allocated for two adult bikes. A pretty tough bill to fill, but when I saw this bike for $200 I thought it might be the answer.

The bikes were fairly easy to assemble once I figured out that the instructions were outdated. For example, it says to use a wrench to tighten bolts when putting on the front wheel -- but there are no bolts for the front wheel. You have to figure out for yourself that there is a quick release mechanism hidden in a separate box with reflectors and other items.

While assembling I noticed that the front wheel on both bikes needed to be trued (straightened). Pretty sad for a brand new bikes. Because of this it was nearly impossible to properly adjust the breaks. The derailleurs (front and back on both bikes) also needed adjustment but the front derailleur on one bike was so out of whack it wouldn't shift at all. Of course there were no instructions on how to adjust the front derailleur in the owners manual so I had to look it up online. I finally got it to the point it would shift but it still rubbed on the guard when using the middle sprocket. It looked as if the sprocket was not mounted squarely because it moved in and out as the crankshaft turned (both bikes were like this). You need a special tool to remove the crankshaft.

Another downer is that paint flaked off where the seat goes in as the metal expanded slightly to accept the seat post. This happened on both bikes. I hope the rest of the bike doesn't start losing paint too.

After several hours trying to get gears and breaks properly adjusted I finally decided to take them to a local bike shop to get them tuned up for $60 each. The good news is the shop was able to get them in proper working order and the technician said they seem to be good bikes, especially when I told him what I paid. The morale of the story is, when buying a bike online, be sure to consider the cost of getting them tuned up (unless you're an experienced bicycle technician with the proper tools).

When researching the bikes, I wasn't sure about the frame size and was afraid the 22" frame might be too small for someone my size. I'm 6'4" with a 34" inseam but the 22" frame is plenty tall -- glad I didn't get the 25". The seat is not very comfortable -- it's just a standard run-of-the-mill seat.

Here are some details you might want to know about:
Indexed shifters
No quick release on rear wheel
Weighs about 31 lbs

All in all it turned out to be a good purchase but I would look around before paying full price for this bike.

4 out of 5 stars It's a Lamborghini!   May 17, 2010

I'll admit it: the name swayed me into the purchase. I figured it was the closest I am going to come to to owning a Lamborghini.

Assembly was pretty easy, the bike comes mostly assembled you just need to put the front wheel on, the seat and the handlebars. So that's the easy part. Let me qualify the rest of this by saying I am not a mechanically inclined person, so you might have an easier time. Adjusting the front and rear brakes so they don't drag on the wheel and then release correctly and spring open after being applies took me some time. The directions were not much help in this area, but I managed to fumble through it. Getting the adjustments on the gears just right was also tricky, although the instructions were considerably more detailed in this area.

As one other reviewer mentioned the instructions are also slightly out of date referencing parts of that are not on this model.

The bike rides very well, shifts smoothly and despite my initial problems it's great. My only complaint is the seat is very hard and uncomfortable. I'll be switching it out soon for a more comfortable one, but all in all I am happy with this bike.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent bike..good value   June 27, 2010

I assembled this bike in about 15 minutes; everything was pre-tuned and lubricated - up and riding in 20 minutes!

An excellent commuter/fitness bike.
