Enter the Diamondback Wildwood Citi men's comfort bike, which includes such premium features as Shimano components, aluminum rims, Promax linear pull brakes, and an affordable price tag. If simplicity and value matter to you, look no further than the Wildwood Citi.
The Wildwood Citi offers Diamondback's elegant LBC geometry. | The bike is structured around a Hi-Ten Remington Steel frame with Laid Back Comfort (LBC) Geometry and a 45mm suspension fork. The frame and fork combine to create a comfortable, maneuverable ride that's ideal for both beach towns and short neighborhood commutes. The SunRace seven-speed twist shifters and Shimano Mega Range freewheel, meanwhile, create a smooth shifting and coasting experience. And riders will love the dual-density comfort saddle, which is far more accommodating than traditional road bike saddles. About Diamondback's LBC Geometry During the development of LBC Geometry, Diamondback engineers were faced with the challenge of making the comfort bike more comfortable and easier to use without compromising its handling and maneuverability. They started by tilting the seat tube back. Way back. This allows the rider to be seated further behind the bottom bracket and in a lower position, which not only makes for a more stable and comfortable ride, but also allows for full leg extension to the pedals. At the same time, the design still keeps the rider seated low enough on the bike that he or she can quickly and easily plant both feet firmly on the ground. The result is happier knees and much easier mounting and dismounting. Once the rider's ideal position was determined, the engineers recognized two places they could improve the handling of the bike by not changing anything at all. Whereas other companies have been tempted to lengthen the chainstays and tilt the head tube back, Diamondback engineers opted for another approach, leaving the length of the rear end alone to maintain superior shifting performance and stable handling. Then they designed a new comfort handlebar with more back sweep, helping bring the handle grips within reach. Because the angle and location of the head tube remains unchanged, Diamondback didn't compromise the performance of the bike. Great Bike October 2, 2009 J. Porter (Ohio) 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
Bought this bike to start exercising again and get back in shape. Gained alot of weight due to an injury. Needed a bike that was comfortable and could support me. Been riding about 3 miles per day, 4 days per week, for about 6 months now and no problems at all. Bike is very comfortable. When you buy this bike, I had the option of the curved back handle bars or the straight ones. Bought the curved ones thinking they would be more comfortable, but had an awkward angle on my wrists. The straight bars are more comfortable.
Extremely Comfortable! December 28, 2009 David S. Heinrichs (California) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this bike for my father for Christmas, since his Mongoose had been stolen. He had basically changed the Mongoose into a comfort bike, by changing the tires, seat, and handlebars to fit him better. But, even with all of those mods this bike rides so much easier than that one did!
Putting it together took a little know how, but not much. You will need to buy a kickstand, ($7.50 at the local Walmart.) and a set of allen wrenches.
The only trouble with the bike, is that now I want one too!
Nice Dback June 3, 2010 Daniel P. French (Phoenix, AZ) I just got my bike from Amazon and it's great so far. There were no scratches and the rims were straight. With the free shipping and zero sales tax it turned out to be a much better deal than Sports Authority. It has been awhile since I rode a bike and this was the perfect style for me to gear back up. I used to have a Diamondback BMX when I was a kid and it was a great bike so I was excited to see this cruiser. The parent company is Raleigh so I have high hopes.
Wildwood Citi July 23, 2010 John M. Satchell (Richmond, Virginia) I bought this bike today, though not from Amazon. I love Amazon but some avid cycling friends recommended I go to a shop to at least test ride and find the right frame size, fit, etc. That was some of the best advice I ever got, and followed. You need to make sure the bike you're going to buy is a good fit for your body. Seriously.
Now, about the bike:
This is my first bicycle of any kind in 25 years or so. I'm 6'1", 335 lbs, and have a 31" inseam with my shoes on. The large frame size on the Citi is an excellent fit, in my case, and amazingly, the bike hasn't crumbled under my weight! LOL. Anyway, it's heavier than the aluminum frame Wildwood but it's still lighter than what I expected and what I remembered of my old 10 speed from 25 years ago. The ride is very comfortable due to the seat post and front fork suspension, the upright riding position, the generously cushioned saddle, and the large tires. The shifters are smooth, as is the peddling, and the brakes are responsive. I bought this because riding bikes was something I always really enjoyed when I was younger and that could also be called exercise and obviously, I need some exercise... Granted, I've only had the bike for a few hours but am very pleased with it so far. Finally, you can't beat the price for the value you get with this bike. If anything changes, I'll update this review but for now, I'm happy (and a little sore.)
Update 7/28/10:
I've ridden the bike a couple times now and am still very pleased with it. My legs are a little sore (to be expected) but not my back, and that was a big concern.
Fantastic Bike. November 27, 2009 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This was a Birthday present for my Husband. Although the peddle was clonking, we replaced it. It's the best bike he has owned. It's perfectly comfortable, he rides an average of 14 miles a day and loves it.
