Bicycle was very easy to assemble. I assemble it myself but then double check with bicycle shop. Seller was very helpful and reply promptly to any questions regarding the assemble.
Bicycle is fold-able, so I can bring it to my work cube..
Battery is working great and easy to re-charge..
Overall, it is an excellent choice for urban commute and the price is just right!
e-joe electric bike March 27, 2009 Frank Rothstein 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I've had the e-joe electric bike for about a week now and am very pleased with its features and performance. I am just over 6 feet tall and it accommodates me quite comfortably. I do wish it came with multiple gears because I have some hills to contend with and it's not powerful enough to handle slopes much over 10 or 12 degrees. The extra gears would also allow for more speed on flat surfaces. Still, for the price, it's great fun to ride and very useful for my trip to the commuter train. FYI, it took me a couple of days before I realized that the rear reflector does light up and blink after you unwrap and install the included batteries. No problems with the battery and I am re-charging it after each use to make sure it doesn't run out of juice.
Great Value, Lots of Fun! February 24, 2010 poppies (Los Angeles, CA USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I had a few issues with the initial bike I received, and e-Joe worked very hard to resolve the situation. They were friendly and responsive, with a level of customer service rarely seen these days. The E-Transformer bike I now have works great.
The bike itself is welded together a little ungracefully with large weld marks, but the engineering is pretty well thought out and makes for a very convenient product. For instance, folding and unfolding is much easier than I expected; with quick release clamps, the bike is solid when connected but also easily broken down. There are several nice appointments such as an included rear flashing light (with batteries!), quality brakes, a very comfortable seat, and even a rear rack. I was a little nervous about the relatively small wheels, but they are fitted with tires which are wide and strong enough to offer a fine experience even on somewhat rough city streets. The battery charges fairly quickly and holds power for a surprisingly long time.
Using the pedal-assist power system is lots of fun. It's a bit of a rush when you turn the throttle and it kicks in, you feel like you're riding on a James Bond bike! It's not incredibly powerful, and if you're dealing with San Francisco-style hills it's not really usable, but for a fairly flat area it's a great way to go far distances without much effort at all. I think it's actually the perfect amount of power; I'm not sure I would feel safely in control if it went a lot faster.
Overall, a great value from a great company.
